The STIHL MS 500i chainsaw is ideal for forestry work. Its high power and easy handling allow for effective work with large logs. Thanks to its lightweight design and dynamic handling, the chainsaw is excellent not only for felling and cutting, but also for limbing.
The MS 500i is the world's first chainsaw with electronic fuel injection. Innovative STIHL Injection technology ensures optimal engine performance and excellent starting regardless of altitude and ambient temperature. Sensors measure air pressure, interior and exterior temperatures, and transmit this information to the control unit. Using these values, the control unit can optimally determine the fuel quantity and ignition timing. This ensures fuel metering by opening and closing the valve. STIHL Injection offers rapid acceleration with extremely high performance and low weight:
- The chain accelerates from 0 km/h to 100 km/h in 0.25 seconds.
- The MS 500i achieves the best power-to-weight ratio on the market: a unique 1.24 kg/kW.
- Electronic fuel injection takes place in the proven STIHL 2-MIX engine, which delivers high performance with low fuel consumption. To reduce muscle and joint fatigue, the chainsaw is equipped with STIHL ElastoStart. The HD2 air filter, captive nuts on the sprocket cover, adjustable oil pump, tool-free fuel cap, and lateral chain tensioning complete the high-quality features.

EASY AND SAFE TENSIONING. The lateral chain tensioner allows for quick, easy, and safe chain tensioning and replacement. The tensioning screw is operated from the side through the sprocket cover.
STIHL ELECTRONIC INJECTION
HIGH PERFORMANCE AND COMPACT DESIGN. The electronic injection system's control unit constantly calculates the correct fuel supply and ideal ignition timing, while injection occurs directly into the crankcase via the injector. Sensors measure air pressure, internal and external temperatures and transmit the information to the control unit. The latter is able to optimally determine the fuel quantity and ignition timing using the measured values. This allows the tool to deliver more power while maintaining a weight and size comparable to those of non-injected engines.

QUICK AND EASY OPENING AND CLOSING. Thanks to the tool-free opening and closing cap, the oil and fuel tanks can be opened and closed in just a few simple steps thanks to the bayonet closure.

REDUCED OIL CONSUMPTION. The STIHL Ematic system consists of the STIHL Ematic or Ematic S guide bar and the STIHL Oilomatic chain. It ensures that the chain oil reaches where it's needed for lubrication. This can reduce oil consumption by up to 50%. If you often work in dusty environments or use longer guide bars, the new oil pump system allows you to quickly and easily increase the amount of oil at any time.
